I decided to write some poetry for today's post.  I think this sums it up.

Resurrection of the Athlete

Weakness, pain
invade the brain 
to flow from dripping pores

Posture, fatigue
self defeat
buzz around the stench

Mindful thoughts
of yesterdays
broken plays
that could have been glory days
but fell off before

Moments caught
like fireflies
glory dies
in jars with lids

But

Resurrection
comes creeping in
with tentative
hopeful
hues

Until the day
that gains the sway
fierceness finds
a hold

And fiercer still
the mighty will
of athlete
with foe

And finding there
behind the veil
the reflection
is one's own
